The cooling is a key factor to raise the efficiency of automobile engine. The radiator is cooled by air from radiator grille. The thermal type flowmeters have been used for this service. One disadvantage of thermal type is to measure flow components from all directions. The ultra- light and small vane wheel sensor solved this task by measuring only flow portion perpendicular to the radiator. The rotation frequency of vane wheel (RS-1000) is detected by an optical sensing system (RS-2000/3000), and is converted into wind velocity with the converter for radiator anemometer. The converter for radiator anemometers has been provided in two types: a standard functional type(RR-5000) and a high setting functional one (RR-5000B). The converter has the functions of flow rate/ frequency indication, analogue voltage output and communication. The air flow data of a maximum of 64 channels are collected with PC data gathering system (RW-1000) by connecting air flow converters to a RS232 converter (RU-1000). Actual driving test can be conducted if a whole system is loaded in the vehicle. This system has been appreciated by many customers as the development support system of automobile radiator, radiator grille and heat influence test of engine room.
